Iran reports 295 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
After 10,223 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,072,620 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.
295 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 51,212.
There are at least 5,779 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 765,639 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 6,523,409 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,565,875 with 68,693,193 cases and more than 47,630,496 recoveries. (ILKHA)
