Iran reports 294 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
After 11,561 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,040,547 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.
294 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 50,310.
There are at least 5,809 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 730,798 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 6,387,019 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,536,718 with 66,974,746 cases and more than 46,355,633 recoveries. (ILKHA)
