Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 46,689
Iran has reported 482 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 46,689, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Thursday.
After 13,961 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 908,346 in the country.
There are at least 5,712 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 633,725 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 5,955,724 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,429,643 with 60,854,108 cases and more than 42,172,834 recoveries. (ILKHA)
