Lavrov, Zarif discuss Syria, Karabakh, nuclear deal in phone call
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Tuesday.
The Ministers discussed the situations in Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh during the conversation, Russian Foreign Ministry said.
They also discussed Russia and Iran’s commitment to ensuring the prompt return of all participants to fully observing obligations laid out in the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, formally called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
On 8 May 2018 the United States officially withdrew from the agreement after US President Donald Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum ordering the reinstatement of harsher sanctions.
However, U.S. President-elect Joe Biden has said he would take the United States back into the deal. (ILKHA)
