Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 42,941
Iran has reported 480 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 42,941, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.
After 13,421 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 801,894 in the country.
There are at least 5,712 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 576,983 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 5,626,631 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,346,248 with 56,077,386 cases and more than 39,085,553 recoveries. (ILKHA)
