HAMAS resumes Palestinian reconciliation talks in Cairo
Senior delegation from HAMAS on Sunday headed to Cairo to resume reconciliation talks with Fatah, HAMAS Spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa said.
“HAMAS delegation is going to hold an important meeting with the Fatah delegation as part of efforts exerted by Egypt to resume the Palestinian reconciliation efforts,” al-Qanoa added in a press release.
Noting that HAMAS is still in contact with Fatah, al-Qanoa stressed that his movement is “determined to achieve intra-Palestinian reconciliation because we believe in the success of national partnership” among Palestinian factions.
Al-Qanoa confirmed that there are no obstacles posed to the reconciliation efforts but a few differences that could be overcome through discussions to agree on a unified strategy to face off all challenges threatening the Palestinian cause.
“Reconciliation is an internal issue and has not been influenced by regional and international developments,” al-Qanoa concluded. “Despite the challenges, we will achieve partnership. There is no alternative for national unity.” (ILKHA)
