After 11,737 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 738,322 in the country.

There are at least 5,630 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 546,642 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 5,424,479 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,301,629 with 53,217,519 cases and more than 37,290,358 recoveries. (ILKHA)
