Minibus carrying irregular migrants crashes: 2 dead, 22 injured
2 people were killed and 22 others injured Friday after a minibus carrying irregular migrants crashed in the Tuşba district of Turkey’s eastern province of Van.
According to the governor’s office, the accident took place when the driver of the minibus carrying irregular migrants lost the control of the vehicle on Van-Erçiş highway near the Tuşba district.
The injured have been taken to hospital, the office said.
An investigation into the accident is underway, according to the office.
Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.
According to the official reports, 454,662 irregular migrants held across the country in 2019. (ILKHA)
