Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 38,291
Iran has reported 459 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 38,291, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.
After 9,236 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 682,486 in the country.
There are at least 5,523 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 520,329 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 5,224,252 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,258,259 with 50,396,268 cases and more than 35,630,604 recoveries. (ILKHA)
