Coronavirus: Iran reports 8,452 new cases, 419 deaths in the last 24 hours
Iran has reported 419 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 36,579, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.
After 8,452 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 646,164 in the country.
There are at least 5,426 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 500,000 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 5,073,034 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,222,440 with 47,958,029 cases and more than 34,415,605 recoveries. (ILKHA)
