United States reports record spike in coronavirus cases with 91,530 new infections
9,214,445 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 91,530 new cases in the past 24 hours, according to Johns Hopkins University.
1,047 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States’ death toll from the virus to 234,186.
The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Brazil with 159,033 deaths, India with 121,131 deaths and Mexico with 90,773 deaths.
Until now, at least 5,984,131 patients suffering from the pandemic have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the country.
At least 141,674,095 tests have been carried out to detect coronavirus infections in the country.
New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 539,715 confirmed cases, with at least 33,523 deaths.
According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 1,187,076 people across the world. (ILKHA)
