After the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Future Party, Sağlam and Davutoğlu held a joint press conference.

Sağlam noted that he visited Ahmet Davutoğlu to congratulate him for his new party, the Future Party.

“There is a problem in the understanding of politics in Turkey that we have expressed for many years. Unfortunately, political parties form the language of politics with an understanding as if they were enemies with each other, as if they were rivals with each other. That language needs to change. Political parties are parties established to govern and serve the country, as expressed in their programs. So, these parties cannot be enemies. And they can't compete with each other. In election times, we will compete, we will oppose, we will express each other's shortcomings and mistakes. But after the elections, if we are doing politics to serve this nation, then we will not compete, we will not fight; we will help each other,” Sağlam said.

Underlining that Turkey has huge problems and are going through turbulence, Sağlam said: “The world is being redesigned by global powers. If we can't solve our own problems, if we don't get together and solve them ourselves, someone will come and create a chaos in our country. The way to eliminate this is for political parties to come together and stand in solidarity to serve the country, to negotiate, to talk, to reach a common conclusion.”

“We decide to found the world’s first Salahuddin Ayyubi Institute in Diyarbakır”

Sağlam also stated that they, as HÜDA PAR, had decided to found the world’s first Salahuddin Ayyubi Institute in Diyarbakır.

For his part, Ahmet Davutoğlu, who thanked HÜDA PAR Chairman İshak Sağlam for his visit, said that they agreed on three issues during the meeting.

“First, we should be able to meet with anyone who does not encourage violence, does not give a premium to violence, and does politics on legitimate grounds. Second, everyone should respect all language, religion, sect, ethnic characteristics, and customs of the citizens of the Republic of Turkey, and no discrimination or exclusion should be allowed on this basis. Third, in the critical stages ahead, Turkey's total interests are important beyond individual groups, ethnic sectarian groups and interest groups,” Davutoğlu explained. (ILKHA)
