Wildfires in southern Turkey taken under control after 2 days
All wildfires in Hatay province have been under control after 2 days, Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli announced on Saturday.
Pakdemirli said that four suspects were detained for possible arson and two were later released over two days of forest fires.
The wildfires broke out in several parts of the Belen district on Friday and the forest was still burning on Saturday in windy conditions as helicopters and rescuers tried to put out the flames.
According to local sources, the fires have burned more than 400 acres of forestland, causing hundreds of thousands of terrestrial animals, plant, and insect species burn to death. (ILKHA)
