Kyrgyzstan declares state of emergency in the capital

The protests, which began on Monday, October 5 with a crowd of 1,000 people, are growing more tense in the capital, Bishkek.

The uprising has spread very fast. Protesters stormed the parliament and attacked Russian and Chinese companies for supporting the regime and plundering the resources of the country.

On 6 October, following the protests, the electoral authorities in the country annulled the results of the parliamentary elections. Due to pressure from the protest, Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov resigned, citing parliamentary deputy Myktybek Abdyldayev as the new speaker.

So far, one person has been killed and 590 others injured in the protests, according to the local reports. (ILKHA)
