Iran records highest coronavirus death toll since outbreak
237 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 27,658, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.
After 4,019 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 483,844 in the country.
There are at least 4,274 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 397,109 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 4,207,631 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,055,947 with 36,122,499 cases and more than 27,193,475 recoveries. (ILKHA)
