According to the local reports, people protesting against the results of a parliamentary election in Kyrgyzstan broke into government and state security headquarters in the early hours of Tuesday.

Parliamentary elections were held in Kyrgyzstan on Sunday. The results were subsequently annulled by the Central Election Commission amid widespread claims of vote-buying.

The protests began on Monday with a crowd of 1,000 people, that grew to at least 5,000 people by evening in Bishkek.

On early Tuesday morning, the protesters reclaimed control of the Ala-Too Square in central Bishkek. They also managed to seize the White House and Supreme Council buildings nearby, entering the President's offices. In addition, they freed the former President Almazbek Atambayev from jail.
