Iran reports 227 new deaths from COVID-19
After 4,151 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 479,825 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Tuesday.
227 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 27,419.
There are at least 4,200 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 394,800 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 4,170,000 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,049,693 with 35,777,158 cases and more than 26,907,314 recoveries. (ILKHA)
