A 5.2-magnitude quake hits northeastern Iran
A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit northeastern Iran on the border with Turkmenistan on Saturday, according to Iranian Seismological Center.
The epicenter of the earthquake, which took place at 05:46 a.m. local time in an area near Maraveh Tappeh in Golestan Province, was determined at 38.094 degrees north latitude and 55.979 degrees east longitude, with the focus at the depth of 10 km.
Rescue teams were sent to the region in order to help people in need and to assess the possible damage, the officials reported.
There was no immediate information on possible casualties or damage from the quake. (ILKHA)
