Solid fuels production increases in Turkey
Marketable production of lignite was 5 million 367 thousand 354 tons in July, according to the solid fuels data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Friday.
Marketable production of lignite increased by 6.3% in July compared to the previous month. On the other hand, its production decreased by 33.8% compared to the same month of the previous year and by 23.4% in January-July period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Marketable production of hard coal was 108 thousand 641 tons in July
Marketable production of hard coal increased by 3.3% in July compared to the previous month, and by 2.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. However, its production decreased by 20.7% in January-July period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Marketable production of coke derived from hard coal was 379 thousand 310 tons in July. Its production increased by 4.1% compared to the previous month and by 2.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. On the other hand, its production decreased by 1.3% in January-July period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Imports of hard coal increased by 37.4% compared to the previous month
Imports of hard coal increased by 37.4% in July compared to the previous month, by 95.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 16.0% in January-July period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Imports of coke derived from hard coal decreased by 3.7% in July compared to the previous month, by 15.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 8.1% in January-July period compared to the same period of the previous year.
The highest ratio of production to deliveries was in lignite in January-July period
The highest ratio of production to deliveries was in lignite by 104.0%. This ratio was 87.1% for coke derived from hard coal and 2.7% for hard coal in January-July period.
Hard coal and lignite were delivered mostly to thermal power plants
Concerning the deliveries of solid fuels in July, hard coal was delivered with a percentage of 57.6% to thermal power plants, 14.3% to coking plants, and 10.5% to industry (except iron and steel industry). Additionally, 85.4% of lignite was delivered to thermal power plants and 8.4% to industry (except iron and steel industry). Lastly, 97.3% of coke derived from hard coal was delivered to iron and steel industry. (ILKHA)
