United States reports 969 new deaths due to new coronavirus over the past 24 hours
969 more people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States’ death toll from the virus to 205,571, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Brazil with 138,159 deaths, India with 90,255 deaths and Mexico with 74,348 deaths.
6,833,491 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 40,154 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Until now, at least 4,348,560 patients suffering from the pandemic have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
At least 99,725,856 tests have been carried out to detect coronavirus infections in the country.
New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 485,218 confirmed cases, with at least 33,184 deaths.
According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 976,784 people across the world. (ILKHA)
