Speaking on the first anniversary of his death, Salih Çelik’s friends underlined that he made every effort to preserve the dignity of Islam and pointed out that he had an exemplary personality with his courage and his concern related to Islamic cause.

The late Salih Çelik got kidney and liver cancer during the dark period of the 90's as a result of the cruelty of February 28 and the severe torture he suffered in custody after the unlawful decisions of the FETO judiciary due to his Islamic services.

Çelik, who has been treated for kidney and liver cancer for a long time, passed away at a private hospital in Diyarbakır around 17:00 on September 20, 2019. The body of Çelik, who was carried on the shoulders of his friends, was buried in the Susa Martyrs Cemetery in the village of Susa (Yolaç) in Silvan upon his will.

Speaking to Ilke News Agency on the first anniversary of his death, Author Mehmet Baran, Şabettin Başaran and the head of HÜDA PAR Bismil District headquarters Hacı Ali Bilmez pointed out that the late Salih Çelik was a symbol of courage.

Mehmet Baran, one of  his close friends, who talks about Çelik's morality in the Islamic struggle and in the social field said: “Our brother Salih Çelik was determined and stable. He had a shop in Silvan and was known for his honest trade. He participated in the Islamic cause with his honesty and integrity in the commercial field. He was still busy with business in the period after he met the Islamic cause. During this period, he was carrying out his Islamic studies and continuing his commercial activities. But when trade and Islamic studies coincided, he preferred his cause and abandoned his worldly affairs. Those who know him know well that he lost many possessions, wealth and worldly interests on this path. But the only thing he didn't lose was his case.”

“He never reflected the disruptions in his trade to his case”

Baran said: “Salih Çelik showed a complete surrender when he met the Islamic cause and continued in this way. He never showed any laxity in the case. But even though there have been many ups and downs in the commercial field, this situation has never damaged or affected his determination in the Islamic struggle. “

Referring to Çelik's good morals, Baran said: “Çelik had a morality that was very straightforward. That is to say, he never deviated from the truths he knew and expressed the truths everywhere. He did not care whether others were offended or not if God was pleased with him. He would not refrain from bringing the truth to people. “

Stating that he knew Çelik as the friend of the rainy day, Baran said: “When people are thrown to the right and left by being caught in some atmospheres or when they wavered in a distress and hesitation, they would stand next to Salih Çelik, they could not go forward.”

“He was harsh against the oppressors, merciful against the Muslims”

Stating that he had met him since 1992, Şabettin Başaran, one of his close friends, said that at that time there was a conflict between the Islamic and non-Islamic segments and that he knew Çelik as a determined character in his struggle and hardworking in his cause.

Başaran said: “As far as we know him, he was on good morality. That is, he was very harsh and uncompromising against the oppressors, and he was quite bland against the Muslims. We were never disturbed by him and there was no lack of love for him and us until his death. One day when I asked him if there was a something he could not do in his life, when he was close to his death, he said, 'The only thing I can long for in me is not worldly, it is just my cause. I wish to be able to do 10 times what I can do in the Islamic cause. This is the only situation I long for’. This showed his sincerity to the cause, his loyalty and his love for the Islamic struggle. “

“Salih brother and Mollah Said had foresight”

Emphasizing the foresight of Salih Çelik, Başaran said: “Salih brother was a predictive and insightful person. When we came together about any subject and expressed our views, we witnessed that his forward-looking thoughts later came true or replaced his predictions. Because of that nature, we relied on his experiences and determinations. Because of these features, we wanted to benefit from Salih brother and Mollah Said.”

Hacı Ali Bilmez, who worked in the same profession with Salih Çelik in Silvan, said: “At the time, I and Salih Çelik were doing shoes and I can say that he was one of the respected craftsmen of that period. Çelik has sacrificed all his property for this cause. He even came to such a situation that there were days when he needed a piece of bread. But he never expressed or spread that he sacrificed his property for the cause of Islam. “

Explaining the immigration periods they spent together, Bilmez said, “He was such a person of patience that it cannot be told. Think about it, when we compare it with this period; while everyone was enjoying the parks, gardens, poolside or beaches, someone like Salih brother, someone who had such opportunities, sometimes could not see their children for 3-5 months. I can even say that we were staying with 4 families in a 3-room house. Despite this, he never objected and was patient. “

“Torturer police: Even if you don't die today, you will get permanent diseases in the future”

Expressing the troubles Çelik faced during the period when FETÖ member police tortured Muslims for months, Bilmez said, “Finally, we were caught and tortured for a long time. The torturer policemen of that time told us, 'Even if you do not die under torture today, you will die after a while due to these diseases that this tortures caused.' For example, I spent 40 days of the 70-day torture period on the concrete floor. Naturally, after these tortures, Fesih Hodja lost his kidneys and our brother Salih lost his liver, resulting in health problems.”

Noting the spirit of cooperation among his friends in the same cause, Bilmez said: “When Salih's liver problem occurs, the doctors said that liver transplantation should be done as soon as possible, otherwise it will result in death. A mobilization was initiated among all of our friends, and eventually, my nephew's liver tissues were found suitable and the transplantation process took place. “

Bilmez said: “I reproached that he did not pay attention to his health at that time. He said to me, 'How can I think of myself at this time. When I listen to the problems of the people around me, I feel very sad, I smoke. When I want to sit at home and improve my health, I look around; I see my friends who have passed away, my brothers in prison, my friends in immigration, orphans and widows.
