The death toll from coronavirus exceeds 24,000 in Iran
After 2,845 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 419,043 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Saturday.
166 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 24,118.
There are at least 3,893 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 357,600 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 3,710,000 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 957,189 with 30,734,956 cases and more than 22,362,347 recoveries. (ILKHA)
