Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj decides to resign
The Prime Minister of Libya's UN-recognized government Fayez-al Sarraj has decided to resign from his post, the local reports said.
“I declare my sincere desire to hand over my duties to the next executive authority no later than the end of October,” Fayez al Sarraj said during a televised speech.
Sarraj will stay on as a caretaker through negotiations for a new Libyan government in Geneva in October.
Sarraj has been Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord since its installment in December 2015 as part of a United Nations-led political agreement. (ILKHA)
