Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 23,029
Iran has reported 116 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 23,029, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Saturday.
After 2,139 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 399,940 in the country.
There are at least 3,768 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 344,516 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 3,532,873 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 920,530 with 28,698,681 cases and more than 20,610,585 recoveries. (ILKHA)
