Turkey denies the claim that Presidency has appealed against Hagia Sophia decision
News reports claiming that Presidency has appealed against the Council of State’s decision on Hagia Sophia Mosque certainly do not reflect truth, Turkey’s Directorate of Communications said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The news reports by some media outlets indicating that the “Presidency has appealed against the 10th Chamber of the Council of State’s annulment decision regarding the status of the Hagia Sophia Mosque" certainly do not reflect the truth,” the statement said.
Reminding that it is only the Presidency that has the right to appeal against the annulment decision made by the aforementioned Chamber on July 02, 2020, the statement emphasized that the Presidency has not appealed against the said decision.
“The decision was therefore finalized. Other persons or institutions do not have the right to appeal in the case,” it added. (ILKHA)
