Haneyya: The armed Palestinian resistance will not be discussed
Ismail Haneyya, Hamas’s leader, has underlined that any agreement between Hamas and the other Palestinian factions will not affect the armed resistance.
Haneyya clarified during his meeting with representatives of Palestinian refugees and the national forces in Lebanon that armed resistance is a strategy to liberate all of Palestine, and not only to defend Gaza.
He said, today we meet in Lebanon and tomorrow in Palestine, and there is no force in the world that can prevent us from returning to Palestine. He pointed to the rise of the Palestinian resistance and the development of the missile system that the resistance possesses by saying: “Our missiles used to have a range of 15 kilometers but now they can reach Tel Aviv and beyond.”
Haneyya reiterated his Movement’s adherence to its strategic constants and that of the Palestinian cause, and on top of these constants is the “return of Palestinian refugees to their homes and villages from which they were displaced, from Ras al-Naqab to Umm al-Rashrash.” He also re-affirmed his phrase, “We will not recognize israel.”
He pointed out that Hamas agrees with the other factions on some programs, without giving up any inch of Palestine and without recognizing the occupation.
He called for the need to achieve and fortify Palestinian national unity because confronting challenges is achieved by unity.
Haneyya stated that the meeting of the factions agreed to form a national leadership for popular resistance, to form a committee to determine the agreement mechanisms to rearrange the Palestine Liberation Organization, re-elect a new national council, and to discuss mechanisms to end the division.
He appreciated the role of Fatah, and the rest of the Palestinian factions in reaching understandings that would progress towards unifying the Palestinian position and ending the division.
He also praised the Lebanese position in defending the Palestinian cause, and its role in supporting the resistance.
He discussed the difficult conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and called on all factions to cooperate in improving the standard of living in the Palestinian camps in Lebanon.
He explained that one of the Movement’s priorities is to form an Arab and Islamic stance that would stand up against normalization with the occupation and stop attempts to “isolate the Arab region.”
Haneyya said: “We went through stages of weakness, but we were always able to come back and impose our conditions.”
He explained: “Our cause is humane, Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic, and we must mobilize the world public opinion to support us.”
Haneyya pointed out that the Palestinian right does not end with a statute of limitations, and that the Palestinians will not forget the massacres committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people, stressing that the occupation will not go unpunished.
Haneyya concluded the meeting by stating that Hamas decided to allocate one million dollars to implement projects for the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. (ILKHA)
