Palestinian factions to meet in Beirut as scheduled, HAMAS says
Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas leader, said on Tuesday that the meeting of Palestinian factions meeting would take place as scheduled in Beirut.
“There had been some confusion in the arrangements for holding a meeting of the secretaries general of the Palestinian factions in the Lebanese capital Beirut, but it was overcome and the meeting will be held as scheduled,” Hamdan said.
He affirmed, in televised statements, that the meeting will take place in Beirut on Thursday as it was earlier set by Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority.
The signed national unity agreements stipulate that the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, would invite the secretaries general of all Palestinian factions to convene on regular basis. However, it was held only once before in 2012 in Beirut. (ILKHA)
