23 irregular migrants nabbed in Turkey’s capital, police say
23 irregular migrants have been nabbed in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, the Provincial Police Department said in a statement on Monday.
23 irregular migrants, 22 of them Afghan and one of them Pakistani nationals, and 3 human traffickers were held in the Gölbaşı district, the statement said.
The statement added that the necessary procedures for the deportation of irregular migrants have been initiated.
Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.
According to the official reports, 454,662 irregular migrants held across the country in 2019. (ILKHA)
