Seasonally adjusted confidence index increases by 5.7% in services in Turkey
Confidence index increased in services and retail trade sectors while decreased in construction sector, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, seasonally adjusted confidence index increased by 5.7% in services and by 0.2% in retail trade sectors while decreased by 2.3% in construction sector in August compared to the previous month.
Services confidence index realized as 70.5
Seasonally adjusted confidence index which was 66.7 for services in July increased by 5.7% in August to 70.5. In services sector compared to the previous month, business situation over past three months sub-index increased by 15.9% to 63.2. Demand-turnover over past three months sub-index increased by 12.3% to 62.0 and demand-turnover expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 4.6% to 86.2.
Retail trade confidence index realized as 94.9
Seasonally adjusted retail trade confidence index increased by 0.2% in August to 94.9. In retail trade sector compared to the previous month, business activity-sales over past three months sub-index increased by 14.5% to 79.7. Current volume of stock sub-index decreased by 2.2% to 108.1 and business activity-sales expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 6.8% to 96.8.
Construction confidence index realized as 85.0
Seasonally adjusted construction confidence index which was 87.0 in previous month decreased by 2.3% in August to 85.0. In construction sector compared to the previous month, current overall order books sub-index became 70.0 by decreasing 5.2%. Total employment expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 0.1% to 99.9.
In construction sector, 65.6% of the enterprises indicated at least one factor limiting their activities while 34.4% of the enterprises indicated none in August. Among the main factors limiting activities in construction sector; "financial constraints" which was 38.2% in July realized as 40.1% in August, "insufficient demand" which was 31.9% in July realized as 31.5% in August and "other factors" which was 19.9% in July realized as 20.3% in August.
