At least 15 killed in twin bombings in Philippines
Two explosions hit the downtown of Jolo, Sulu, killing at least 30 people and injuring 70 others on Monday, according to local officials.
“Reports have come in regarding two blast rocked, Sulu, earlier today. As of latest count, 13 are dead, seven of whom were members of our Armed Forces. Many more were injured,” said Vice President Leni Robredo in a statement.
In the first attack, 1 motorcycle loaded with IED exploded near 6x6 military truck damaging 1 snack house, 1 grocery store and 1 computer shop, according to Philippine Red Cross.
“A second explosion at the back of the Municipal Office, near a hardware and restaurant, was also recorded,” Philippine Red Cross said.
A female suicide bomber conducted the second attack in Mindanao town known as a stronghold of Abu Sayyaf Group, Western Mindanao Command chief Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan said.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attacks. (ILKHA)
