13 tons of cannabis seized in Morocco
13 ton of cannabis was seized in Casablanca, a port city and commercial hub in western Morocco, fronting the Atlantic Ocean, the county’s police announced in a statement on Friday.
11.6 tons of cannabis was seized in a truck and 1.4 tons of cannabis in a car, which followed the truck, the statement said.
According to the statement, a man, 39, was arrested on a charge of his alleged links to an international drug trafficking ring.
Cannabis has been cultivated in Morocco for centuries and the country is currently among the world's top producers of hashish. As of 2016, Morocco is the world's top supplier of cannabis. (ILKHA)
