Iran reports 139 new deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours
Iran has reported 139 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 20,264, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Thursday.
After 2,279 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 352,558 in the country.
There are at least 3,869 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 304,236 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 2,939,840 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
Lari also urged people to continue the implementation of health guidelines in order to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 791,678 with 22,611,340 cases and more than 15,326,631 recoveries. (ILKHA)
