Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar arrives in Libya
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and his accompanying delegation have arrived in Libya's Mitiga Airport in Tripoli to meet GNA officials.
Turkey’s Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Chief of Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler arrived in Libya’s Tripoli as Germany’s Maas is also to hold talks with GNA head Fayez Sarraj in unannounced visit today.
They met with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Atiyye and Libyan Deputy Defense Minister Saladin en-Nemrush during their visit to Libya, Turkish Defense Ministry said.
Akar and Güler are also expected to inspect Turkish bases in the country.
Their's visit coincided with that of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who is scheduled to meet the head of the United Nations-recognized Libyan government, Fayez Sarraj, in Tripoli, Libya's capital.
"In Libya, both sides and their allies are massively arming the country. On the site, I will talk about ways out of this very dangerous situation and, among other things, promote the establishment of a demilitarized zone around Sirte. The U.N made a good proposal," Maas said on Twitter. (ILKHA)
