Turkey's overall export unit value index decreases by 2.8% in June
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index decreased by 2.8% in June, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, in the same month, compared to June 2019, while the index for food, beverages and tobacco increased by 4.3%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 7.4%, 42.4% and 2.6%, respectively.
The overall export unit value index decreased by 3.1% in Quarter II 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The overall export volume index increased by 18.5%
The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 18.5% in June. Compared with June 2019, while the index for fuels decreased by 35.9%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels) and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 32.9%, 18.1% and 17.9%, respectively.
The overall export volume index decreased by 23.8% in Quarter II 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The overall import unit value index decreased by 9.0%
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index decreased by 9.0% in June. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco increased by 3.6%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 13.2%, 37.5% and 5.3%, respectively.
The overall import unit value index decreased by 11.2% in Quarter II 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The overall import volume index increased by 22.1%
In June, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 22.1%. While the index for fuels decreased by 15.8%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels) and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 35.0%, 20.8% and 18.0%, respectively.
The overall import volume index decreased by 6.6% in Quarter II 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 18.8%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 123.7 in May 2020, increased by 18.8%, to 147.0 in June 2020. The calendar adjusted export volume index, which was 143.8 in June 2019, increased by 0.7%, to 144.8 in June 2020.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 7.6%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 113.3 in May 2020, increased by 7.6%, to 121.9 in June 2020. The calendar adjusted import volume index, which was 115.4 in June 2019, increased by 5.9%, to 122.3 in June 2020.
Terms of trade was 109.9 in June 2020
Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 102.9 in June 2019, it increased by 7 points to 109.9 in June 2020.
Terms of trade increased by 9.3 points to 110.8 in Quarter II 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. (ILKHA)
