Iran reports 212 new deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours
Iran has reported 212 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 17,617, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Tuesday.
After 2,751 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 314,786 in the country.
There are at least 4,132 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 272,535 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 2,560,000 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 698,224 with 18,476,302 cases and more than 11,702,380 recoveries. (ILKHA)
