Brazil's death toll from coronavirus surpasses 90,000
955 more people have died from coronavirus in Brazil over the 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 88,634.
The number of confirmed cases has reached 2,555,518 in the country, an increase of 70,869 cases in the last 24 hours.
While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 1,787,419 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 514,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 22,389 deaths.
Meanwhile, Brazilian government on Wednesday issued a decree reopening the country to foreign visitors arriving by plane, ending a four-month travel ban in an effort to revive tourism industry. However, it extended coronavirus-related bans on foreign travelers arriving by land or sea for another 30 days. (ILKHA)
