Iran reports 216 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
Iran has reported 2,333 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of infections to 291,172 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.
After 216 more people have lost their lives due to the virus in the past 24 hours, the number of deaths from the infection has risen to 15,700 in the country.
There are at least 3,695 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 253,213 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 2,327,850 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 649,549 with 16,273,638 cases and more than 9,952,886 recoveries. (ILKHA)
