The full text of the message is as follows:

“My treasured Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters,

I greet you from the bottom of my heart.

I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the Peace and Freedom Day on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the July 20, 1974 Peace Operation, which decisively foiled the attempt against the rights, freedom and existence of the Turkish Cypriots, who are the joint owners of the Island.

The Peace Operation symbolizes the revival of a people sought to be erased from history. The operation has shown the entire world the extent of the risks the Turkish Cypriots stand ready to take when their fundamental rights are violated, freedom threatened, existence and survival targeted.

The patience and sagacity of the Turkish Cypriots, who have been fighting for equality for over 50 years, are unparalleled in the world. The Turkish Cypriots have defended their rights and freedoms, and continued their fight despite all kinds of pressures and threats.

The Homeland Turkey, which has always stood by the Turkish Cypriots in their rightful endeavor, is the assurance of, as was the case 46 years ago, the Turkish Cypriots’ stability and peace and will continue to be so.

My precious brothers and sisters,

The only possible way to achieve a just and lasting solution in the Island is the acceptance of the Turkish Cypriots’ equal status. The Greek Cypriot side should ─ without any delay ─ recognize the Turkish Cypriots’ political equality and equal rights over the natural resources of the Island.

Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side have always displayed a clear will towards the resolution by always being on the side of peace and reconciliation. However, that does not mean that sacrifices will be made from the Turkish Cypriots' rights at all costs. Turkey will make every effort to defend the rights of the Turkish Cypriots, as has always been the case.

On this occasion, I remember with grace our august martyrs, who laid down their lives in the fight for liberation, and our ghazis with gratitude.

I wish lasting prosperity, wellness and happiness to our brothers and sisters in the TRNC.
