Ayanoğlu stated that it was an occupation attempt on 15 July and that this initiative was prevented with the great courage of the nation.

Ayanoğlu said, “My brother was a martyr, and I am a Ghazi. This proud is enough for all of us. We all know very well how a bloody night it was. It was not a coup attempt, but an invasion attempt. No people can do the struggle we have given. We have also seen the traitors and bastards in us. I hope that we will be in better places after that.”

“I feel sorry that I missed the martyrdom”

Ayanoğlu stated that being martyr is the greatest level to be reached for a Muslim and that he has been in a state of sadness when he missed his martyrdom, “My brother and were taken to hospital in the same car in that night. Unfortunately, I had missed the martyrdom that night and I survived only with one millimeter. The Doctor said, ‘I haven’t seen a man as lucky as you,’ because the bullet just slipped through the vessel, nerves, bones and just took my meat and gone. I am lucky for him, but I feel sorry that I missed the martyrdom.”

Mother of two children Safiye Bayat who injured that night narrate that time

One of the wounded during the July 15 coup attempt was Safiye Bayat, the mother of two children. Safiye Bayat 35, who was shot while riding to the aid of the wounded at the Bosphorus Bridge [Martyrs Bridge], said that the putschists had even shot those who had wounded and raised their help for help and who wanted to help injured.

Stating that memory of July 15th they had not been wiped from her mind, Safiye Bayat spoke to ILKHA correspondent and expressed her continued life with platinum on her foot.

“I got my mini Qur’an with me”

Mrs. Bayat said, “I turned the TV on unwillingly at home and was told that there is an attempt. I immediately wore heavy clothes on, took my bag and filled the meds, plasters, bandages, painkillers, etc. I also got my tiny Qur'an with me. First I went to Çengelköy. Normally Çengelköy is a very chirping place, but there was no one, no cars, shops, gas stations were closed. I ended up walking towards Beylerbeyi and my husband phoned me. Asked me, ‘Where are you going?’ I said, ‘I'm going to the bridge.’ He said to me, ‘Do not go, go back, here is very complicated.’ I said, 'I'm going.' said.

“The tank has begun to shoot fire on me”

Bayat said that despite the news that the putschists kept the Bosphorus Bridge, she continued walking.

“I saw a fire truck coming from the opposite direction when I came out of the road that people did not use. It was full of soldiers. It didn’t make sense to me. I was stopped by the cops as I walked up the bridge. I got warnings that it was dangerous to go ahead. I said ‘I will go.’ As I was walking, I saw a Turkish flag in front of toll booths. Seeing my flag gave me courage. Young people there they said to me, 'Sister, do not go, they open fire after you have the pass that line in front.’ I said ‘I will go’ and I walked ahead. They began shooting at me from the tank. None of the bullets hit me.”

“High-ranking soldiers fired by my cheek when I said you are doing wrong”

Bayat, who also spoke about the dialogue with the senior soldiers holding the Bosphorus Bridge, said: “I went ahead and faced the treacherous high-rank soldier. I argued him for a while. Saying that what they did was wrong, that they should not do this and that they should leave it. But of course, it wasn’t enough for the traitors. The troops in the rear were also traitorous. I said, 'Do not drag the soldiers behind you in vain.' The moment he heard that he pulled me over and fired by my cheek.”

“For me, they say, 'Shall we kill her, Commander.'”

Stressing that she was threatened with death but not afraid, Bayat said, “Those who have believed in Allah and surrendered to Allah, will not be afraid of anything, but only what they are afraid of is Allah. There is no thought in your mind at that time. There is no family, husband, children in mind. Just you and want to walk on the path of the cause, your feet. After all, those happened, I said to the commander, 'I am not afraid of you. You want to shoot me, I'm going to turn my back and you shoot me from the back.’ I said to myself, again and again, I understood that they are very cruel and treacherous, and I came back to pray. I wanted to warn them again, perhaps the voices from the back began to rise. Then I heard soldiers were yelling as I was talking, ‘Shall we kill her commander.’”

“Your mother gave birth you for these days”

Noting that the putschists opened fire several times behind her and that no bullet hit her, Bayat continued,

“Lastly I said to the senior, ‘you are very cruel.’ And before I left, I said to him, "You will lose, you are cruel.’ He got angry and turned to soldiers and said, ‘your mother gave birth you for these days.’”

“After returning to the place where people gathered, I said them that the soldiers are very cruel and that they should not go forward. I told them that the soldiers would sign a great massacre and said that they would. One of them said, ‘will they kill 100-200 people, and we will walk.’ As they walked, they constantly pushed me back in order nothing happen to me. They walked forward and then they were hit bloodthirstily. Then we began carrying wounded people to hospitals.”

“Even those who want to pick up injured and raised hand were shot”

Also telling the moment when she was shot, Bayat said, “A lady was wounded, I was shot when I was going for help. It is a great honor. Then that lady gave her last breath there. I also lost too much blood there. They even shot those who raised a hand to help wounded people. Then they dragged me back and put me in a car, sent to the hospital. I have been treated in the hospital for 18 days, and the treatment is still ongoing.”

“We went out for the right cause”

Lastly, Mrs. Bayat stated that she is continuing her life with platinum replaced inside of her foot, said: “I am a little bit limp but it is ok. As long as my country is such beautiful, in freedom, it can be transformed into a paradise where everyone lives together. We went out for the right cause. I hope we unite as Ummah brotherhood. Our last name is Turkiye, doesn’t matter what our names are Laz, Circassians, Kurds, Turks.”

Onur Ensar Ayanoglu, who had gone to the Bosphorus Bridge to resist the coup attempt, was shot by putschists when was trying a wounded father whose daughter was screaming for help. Ayanoglu was killed by two bullets from his neck and his chest.
