Iran reports 2,262 new coronavirus cases, 142 deaths in the last 24 hours
142 new deaths from coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours, rising Iran’s death toll from the virus to 12,447, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Friday.
After 2,262 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 252,720 in the country.
There are at least 3,319 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 215,015 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 1,922,501 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
Lari also urged people to comply with the health guidelines while also labeling provinces of Kordestan, Khuzestan, Ilam, Razai Khorasan, Kermanshah, West Azarbaijan, East Azarbaijan, Bushehr, and Hormozgan as 'red' regarding the spread of the disease.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 558,324 with 12,430,659 cases and more than 7,252,128 recoveries. (ILKHA)
