Turkey’s overall export unit value index drops by 3.5% in May 2020
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index decreased by 3.5% in May, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, in the same month, compared to May 2019, while the index for food, beverages and tobacco increased by 3.4%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 3.0%, 60.8% and 2.3%, respectively.
The overall export volume index decreased by 38.7%
The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year decreased by 38.7% in May. Compared with May 2019, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 23.3%, 27.0%, 16.3% and 44.3%, respectively.
The overall import unit value index decreased by 13.1%
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index decreased by 13.1% in May. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco increased by 2.6%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 11.8%, 54.1% and 5.9%, respectively.
The overall import volume index decreased by 17.5%
In May, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year decreased by 17.5%. The index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 23.1%, 12.2%, 26.4% and 22.7%, respectively.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 20.7%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 102.3 in April 2020, increased by 20.7%, to 123.4 in May 2020. The calendar adjusted export volume index which was 176.8 in May 2019, decreased by 30.5%, to 122.9 in May 2020.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 9.2%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 102.1 in April 2020, increased by 9.2%, to 111.5 in May 2020. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 122.6 in May 2019, decreased by 6.8%, to 114.2 in May 2020.
Terms of trade was 112.5 in May 2020
Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 101.3 in May 2019, it increased by 11.2 points to 112.5 in May 2020. (ILKHA)
