Brazil has reported 1,187 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 68,055.

While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 1,117,922 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 341,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 16,788 deaths.

According to the country’s Health Ministry, Covid19 was reported in 5,371 of the 5,570 municipalities in Brazil.

“This represents, therefore, 96.4% of Brazilian municipalities. However, 71% of those sites have between 1 and 100 cases,” the ministry said. (ILKHA)
