Death toll from coronavirus pandemic surpasses 63,000 in Brazil
The number of confirmed cases has reached 1,543,341 in Brazil, an increase of 41,988 cases in the last 24 hours.
Brazil has reported 1,264 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 63,254.
Brazil is the country with the second-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.
The country also ranks second in the world in terms of total cases, behind the United States.
While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 945,915 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 311,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 15,694 deaths.
According to the country’s Health Ministry, the Federal Government has already invested R$ 1,283 billion to cover the 9,011 beds intended exclusively for the treatment of severe and very serious patients of the disease
