Iran reports 162 new deaths from coronavirus
Iran has reported 162 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 10,670, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari announced in her daily press conference on Monday.
After 2,536 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections have risen to 225,205 in the country.
There are at least 3,000 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 186,180 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 1,610,869 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
She described the condition in the provinces of Kordestan, Khuzestan, West Azarbaijan, Kermanshah, and Hormozgan as a red status and in the provinces of Bushehr, Ilam, East Azarbaijan, and Khorasan Razavi as alarming.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 505,068 with 10,275,122 cases and more than 5,576,931 recoveries. (ILKHA)
