Russia’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 8,969
6,852 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Russia, bringing the number of cases in the country to 627,646.
The country’s death toll from the virus has reached 8,969, an increase of 188 deaths in the last 24 hours.
393,352 patients suffering from coronavirus have been discharged from hospital after being cured.
Russia was relatively late in suffering a serious outbreak, but now has become the country with the third-most cases in the world, after the United States and Brazil.
The city of Moscow is currently the most affected federal subject, having the majority of confirmed cases.
However, the city announced significant easing of restrictions, including compulsory travel passes, on June 8. After the decision, residents rushed out to enjoy the streets and parks.
