Brazil’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 52,771
Brazil has reported 1,364 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 52,771.
The number of confirmed cases has reached 1,151,479, an increase of 40,131 cases in the last 24 hours.
Brazil is the country with the second-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.
Brazil also ranks second in the world in terms of total cases, behind the United States.
While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 613,345 patients suffering from coronavirus have been discharged from hospital after being cured.
According to the Health Ministry, the number of people cured of coronavirus is already 7.5% higher than the active cases in the country.
Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 229,475 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 13,068 deaths. (ILKHA)
