Brazil reports 748 new deaths from coronavirus
Brazil has reported 748 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 51,407.
The number of confirmed cases has reached 1,111,348, an increase of 24,358 cases in the last 24 hours.
Brazil is the country with the second-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.
Brazil also ranks second in the world in terms of total cases, behind the United States.
While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 579,226 patients suffering from coronavirus have been discharged from hospital after being cured.
According to the Health Ministry, the number of people cured of coronavirus is already 7.5% higher than the active cases in the country.
Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 221,973 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 12,634 deaths. (ILKHA)
