Iran’s death toll from coronavirus surpasses 9,000
2,563 new cases of coronavirus were reported over the past 24 hours in Iran, increasing the total number of infections in the country to 192,439, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Tuesday.
115 coronavirus patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 9,065, she added.
There are at least 2,815 people in intensive care, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 152,675 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
Lari stated that Khuzestan, East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Golestan, Hormozgan, Kordestan, and Sistan and Baluchestan are still in the risk conditions.
So far, 1,293,609 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 439,713 with 8,141,521 cases and more than 4,252,417 recoveries. (ILKHA)
