Russia, Turkey postpone talks expected to tackle Libya and Syria
Russia and Turkey have postponed ministerial-level talks, which were expected to tackle Libya and Syria, Turkish Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusoglu and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov decided to postpone the talks during a phone call.
“Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone conversation today with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. They agreed to reschedule the Ministerial Meeting and to continue the consultations at the level of Deputy Ministers in the period ahead,” the statement said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had been set to visit Istanbul for the discussions on Libya and Syria. (ILKHA)
