United Kingdom’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 40,883
286 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United Kingdom death toll from the virus to 40,883, the country’s Department of Health and Social Care announced on Tuesday.
“As of 9am 9 June, there have been 5,870,506 tests, with 102,930 tests on 8 June. 289,140 people have tested positive. As of 5pm on 8 June, of those tested positive for coronavirus, across all settings, 40,883 have sadly died,” the Department tweeted.
“Thanks to the efforts of British people in following the social distancing rules, we have succeeded in reducing the number of coronavirus cases and getting R rate under the control,” the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Alok Sharma, told the government’s daily coronavirus press conference.
Global death toll from coronavirus has reached 410,837, with at least 7,258,766 confirmed cases and 3,571,720 recoveries, according to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics. (ILKHA)
